Day 30 of 2009

The kids and I spent a day at home due to no school again. It was a good day though. Everyone got along! Tonight, I took Caity to the ballet. The ballet company that she takes classes from, Kentucky Ballet Theater, performed A Decade of Dance. Caity enjoys watching a show, but prefers to perform. This picture is Caity with Miss Hannah, after the show. Miss Hannah is one of Caity's ballet teachers.

Day 29 of 2009

Today, Charlie got his 3rd set of ear tubes put in. Everything went well, besides a little sore throat. After coming home and looking out the front window, I thought that this would be a peaceful picture after our stormy week.

Day 28 of 2009

We're icy again today. The kids were home today and will be home again tomorrow due to ice and snow. These pictures are of my birch tree out front. Before the ice storm it reached the peak of the house. I hope it does not snap like so many trees have in Lexington.

Day 27 of 2009

This picture says everything about today. We were all at home together today...even Pete. We enjoyed a day of sleeping in, playing, eating, and playing. Tomorrow will be a 3rd day off for the kids.

Day 26 of 2009

No school.......Why??? Today school was cancelled for the half inch of snow we got last night. Has Fayette Co. not heard of a two hour delay? It's not that I mind the kids at home, because mine have been great all day, but we'll have to make this day up too.

According to the forecast, we will not have school tomorrow. They are calling for several inches of snow and ice. We'll have to wait and see. This afternoon, Caity and Charlie have played very well together. Right now they are playing with their PlayMobile - the Water Zoo. They added in the Indian Canoes and Police Car. I guess if you are playing in water, you might as well add canoes.

Day 25 of 2009

Looking back over the last week, I notice lots of Charlie photos. Don't let Caity see...it might hurt her feelings.

Today Caity spent lots of time playing with her fashion designer set that she got for Christmas. She has played for hours designing different fashions.

Day 24 of 2009

We started this day at Charlie's Academic Challenge - One Community, One Voice(OCOV). Charlie's team came in 2nd place in the first round. I was amazed by the questions that he was able to answer. And, he jumps right in when he has an idea of the answer. I am proud of him!

We left the OCOV and headed over to Charlie's basketball game. Charlie played excellent defense this time. He got his arms up and blocked several shots.

Day 23 of 2009

Today was a typical Friday for us in Kentucky. Pete went to work. Caity and Charlie went to school. I worked around the house and online until 11:30am. At 11:30am on Fridays, I go up to the school to help Charlie's and Caity's classes with math tiles. My two children really like math tiles. Charlie likes the fact that he is ahead of all but one of the kids in his class. After math tiles, I go home and continue with working until the kids get home. Caity and Charlie enjoy Fridays due to no homework. Pete and Charlie hang out and fend for themselves for dinner because Caity and I go to ballet from 6 until 7. Now, the kids are in bed. It won't be long and I'll be there too.

Day 22 of 2009

Tonight was the trial run for the Pinewood Derby at the Pack meeting. Yesterday, Pete and Charlie painted Charlie's car. This evening, Pete came home a few mintues early from work, so the wheels could be added and finishing touches complete. Charlie was able to race his car once down the track, and it did come in first. Here's Charlie with his car at the meeting. (The last two pictures of Charlie make him look very pale. I believe it's my camera's flash. I need to work on that or figure out how to fix it in Photoshop Elements.)

Day 21 of 2009

Again, I'm late in posting. I took a picture yesterday, but never got around to posting it. On Wednesdays, I teach a Problem Solving class at ITT Tech. Then, I took Caity to ballet from 4:30 - 6:30pm. It makes for a long day.

Before ballet, Caity called me to the entrance of my bedroom to see something. Kuma and Tiger Lilly were sharing a spot in the sun.

Day 20 of 2009

This evening Pete and Charlie continued there work on Charlie's Pinewood Derby car. Tonight, they added weight, so Pete can weigh it at work tomorrow. Tomorrow night is painting night.

Day 19 of 2009

I guess I'm late at posting this one since it's already day 20. Day 19 started with Caity getting her expander put in at the orthodontist. Soon after, Caity spent the day at her best friend's Katie's house. Charlie and I went to the grocery store and played games together. He had fun beating me on his new Wii game, Mario vs. Sonic Olympic Games. After the kids were in bed, Pete and I watched our favorite show, 24. I was tired after my weekend away that I never posted to this blog. Now, I'll be caught up.

Day 18 of 2009

I made it home from my weekend away and received a warm welcome from Pete, Caity, Charlie, and Kuma. I got my stuff in the dining room and was able to lay down for a nap. Now, I'm feeling much better.

Before the kids went to bed, we all played Wii Bowling since Mommy was home. Charlie bowled a strike. Way to go Charlie! Caity won the game. Yeah Caity! On the note, I must mention that Charlie made his first basket during his basketball game on Saturday! I'm sorry I wasn't there to see it.

Day 17 of 2009

On the 17th day of 2009, I was at a weekend scrapbooking retreat. I spent approximately 30 hours sitting down and scrappin'. I completed 29 two-page layouts. Soon, I will get pictures of these pages to post on my scrapbooking and cardmaking blog.

These pictures were taken at the retreat just minutes before January 18th. We were some tired scrappers by that point. The first photo is a picture of my friend from Owensboro, KY, Marni, and I. The next photo is of Jill and Marni. Jill was the wonderful friend that organized the weekend. The last picture is of Kate and Pang, friend and neighbor that also attended the retreat. Not only did I get lots of scrapbooking time, but I got to catch up with Marni. We hadn't seen each other since this time last year. She used to be my neighbor and really helped me adapt to Lexington life.

Day 16 of 2009

I'm off to scrap! I will be attending a scrapbook weekend until Sunday, so I'll update you at that point.

The car is loaded and I'm off!

Day 15 of 2009

Today I venutred up to school to get a picture of Caity with her science fair project. While there I also took a picture of a wall that was created in December.
Each month, the teachers decide upon one student per grade level to be the citizen of the month. Caity was the first 3rd grader chosen. Way to go, Caity!

Happy 14th Birthday goes out to Emily, my niece!

Day 14 of 2009

Here's what Charlie says about today...1 month 'til his birthday. Our Valentine Boy will be 7 on February 14th. Mommy's trying to plan a party where we can have a bunch of wild 6/7 year olds. Charlie wanted his party here at the house, but Mommy started offering other places.

Caity has completed her science fair project, which is due tomorrow. We wish her luck!

Today's picture is from this evening, after ballet class, right before bedtime. Go Fish!

Day 13 of 2009

Today has been a busy one, but it's almost over. I've decided to post a picture today for my pup, Kuma. He probably feels neglected after a day like today.

Day 12 of 2009

Charlie had an exciting opportunity today. He and his Cub Scout Den went to our local CBS news station, WKYT, for a tour. Charlie couldn't wait to go and came home really wound up. He had lots of fun. The cubs got to see the "brain" of the news station, sit at the news desk, and play around with the green screen and weather. Amber Philpot, the primetime anchor, gave the boys the tour. Here are several pictures from the evening.

Caity had an experience today, but I don't think it was as exciting as Charlie's day. Caity had to go to the orthodontist to get a lip bumper. We are working on making room for her adult teeth. She was pretty miserable tonight, but I just hope it gets better. We get the expander next Monday for the top teeth. I hope she forgives me someday for putting her through all this.

Day 11 of 2009

Today calls for two pictures as Caity and Charlie have been working on separate "scout" projects. Pete and Charlie have been working on Charlie's Pinewood Derby car for Cub Scouts. Caity and I spent hours walking the neighborhood selling Girl Scout cookies.
Caity enjoyed walking around the neighborhood, seeing neighbors, and selling cookies. It sure was cold, but they're predicting an even colder week.
Charlie picked out a design that he says looks like the Bat Mobile. Pete has made numerous trips to Lowes in the last two days. Charlie's wood block is now cut and sanded. Pete has been researching the how to's of Pinewood Derby cars. I am anxious to see how it all turns out.

Day 10 of 2009

Charlie played in his first basketball game today. Charlie plays on the Spartans for Upward. He really seems to enjoy it. We thought Charlie was one of the tallest boys his age, until we saw the boy that Charlie had to mark today.

At the end of each game, the coach gives out different colored stars that have different meanings. Charlie received the star, that his coach says each player should strive for. He received the white star which represents "Most Christlike". Charlie was very proud, as we are proud of him!

Day 9 of 2009

Today was a day of math tiles, ballet class, and Girl Scout cookie sales. Yes, today Caity was allowed to begin selling cookies. She went to bed with 8 boxes sold. She wants to go do serious selling tomorrow. If your interested in purchasing some Girl Scout cookies, let me know.

Today's picture is of Charlie. Charlie will not let me take a picture, so I have sneak up on him. He doesn't want to look at the camera. I took this picture while he was showing Daddy the prize that he earned for excellent behavior at school. He was so proud of the little mini black car.

Day 8 of 2009

Tonight, I post a picture of my husband, Pete. He left on Tuesday and just returned tonight from a business trip. He was missed by all five of us, Caity, Charlie, Kuma, Tiger Lilly, and I. He made it home just in time for Charlie's Cub Scout meeting. I only had to attend the meeting for the first ten minutes. Wow, eight boys at age 6/7...that ten minutes wore me out. I was going to take a picture of my son, Charlie, in his Cub Scout uniform tonight, but that wasn't happening. When he returned from the meeting where they learned to play chess, he was very upset. He was playing his first ever chess game and lost. He was torn up. We do need to work on his sportsmanship. Maybe it's little boys his age, but he cannot stand to lose.

Wednesday, January 7, 2009

Day 7 of 365

Picture 7 is of my pup, Kuma. Notice what's falling around him? Yes, it's snowing a little today in Lexington. Kuma doesn't like his feet to get wet and he doesn't seem to care for the snow. The kids love how the snow shows up on him though.

Tuesday, January 6, 2009

January 6, 2009

Today, I took a picture of Caity eating some mandirin oranges. Yesterday she had spacers put in for her bottom and top teeth at the orthodontist. She is having trouble eating much of anything. As I look at this photo, I realize how grown up she looks.

Monday, January 5, 2009

Day 5

Today, the kids had to return to school. We are back to homework and evening reading. Here is Charlie completing his 20 minutes of reading. He enjoys reading the Magic Treehouse Series.

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Day 4

Today's picture represents two things about our day.

1) We have gotten our Christmas tree put away. This morning, and since Thanksgiving Day, the tree has sat in the spot that the chair now stands.

2) The game of Life appears in the chair, because tonight the four of us had a fun time playing it together. Of course, I didn't think of taking a picture while we were playing. Maybe this blog and the challenge of taking a picture a day will help me to recognize when to have the camera in my hands.

3rd Day in 2009

Today's picture (ok, pictures) are of our new purchase. Zoom! Zoom! Zoom! After hitting a deer on the interstate, we had to replace our Mazda MPV. Today, we purchased this Mazda CX-9.

The 2nd Day in 2009

My picture for day 2 is a picture of Caity. Caity is all ready for bed at home, while Charlie is spending the night at a friend's house. Caity says that she enjoys having all of Mommy and Daddy's attention.

1/1/09 - a 2nd photo

I had to include this adorable picture of Kuma, my 9 month old, Shiba Inu!

1st Picture of 2009

Today, my family and I spent time organizing new toys, putting together new items, and trying out new Wii games. Charlie continued playing Lego Batman on the Wii and Caity spent time learning We Cheer. Just prior to bedtime, we tried out Wii Outdoor Challenge. We shared many laughs. Pete put together Charlie's AT-TE Star Wars walker and I taught Caity how to make her first friendship braclet.

365 pictures in 2009

This blog is deicated to my attempt to scrapbooking 2009 with a picture a day. This will allow me to improve my picture taking techniques and journal 2009.
