Day 87 of 2009 - March 28

Today when Caity and I got home from Cinderella rehearsal, Pete and Charlie were watching a Star Wars video. Charlie was acting out scenes from the movie since he's got so many of the ships and figures. I was able to sneak this picture of Charlie playing. I didn't realize until I downloaded the picture how you can see Darth Vader on the TV screen.

Day 86 of 2009 - March 27

This was the kids last day before spring break. They came home from school excited. Caity still had ballet tonight and tomorrow for Cinderella rehearsal. Pete and Charlie did not have soccer practice due to the rain.

Earlier today it was not raining. Here's Kuma!

Day 85 of 2009 - March 26

Today, Charlie was able to return school. He's worried about his spelling test b/c he didn't know that words until today. Little does he know, it doesn't matter since he doesn't get grades in 1st grade. I am happy that it matters to him.

It rained today until it was time for the sun to set. We went outside and realized that we have grass growing and blooms. We are trying to fill in grass close to the trampoline where the playset used to extend.

Day 84 of 2009 - March 25

Since Charlie has been sick and not at school, Caity offered to read to him, as she completed her 30-minutes of reading.

Day 83 of 2009 - March 24

Charlie was home sick again today. Pete took him to the doctors while I was at work. Charlie has strep throat. He's doing a little better now that we have some antibiotics. Today, while Pete was working from home, he worked on setting up our TV and equipment in our new entertainment center. We decided to go with a console for now and save towards the large built-in entertainment center that could really take up some wall space. We figure that a console can be easily used as furniture else where in the house when the time comes.

Day 82 of 2009 - March 23

Happy 40th Birthday, Pete!

Today, Pete spent his birthday at home with Charlie since I had to work. Charlie has been running a fever and complaining of a sore throat. Around dinner time, with some Motrin in Charlie, we took Pete out to dinner at Culver's. Dinner and ice cream...Culver's is the kids favorite. I believe Pete had a good day...heck, he got the day off from work.

Day 81 of 2009 - March 22

Today can be described as Pete's last day of the thirties. That does mean that Pete turns 40 tomorrow. Only a few hours of 30's left for Pete. I have to give him a hard time since he refused the big party.
Today Charlie has not been feeling the greatest. He even took a nap. Caity has been feeling better than yesterday, but went to bed with a sore lip. Yes, it was the Frisbee again. While Pete was resting inside, and after I took pictures, Pete threw the Frisbe and Caity got hit in the mouth. I think our family is giving up on the Frisbee for a bit.

Day 80 of 2009 - March 21

Today has been busy. Caity started rehearsal for the Cinderella ballet. And, the kids also had a birthday party in the late afternoon. While Caity and I were at ballet, one of our neighbors was cleaning out their garage. They had a basketball goal that was their daughter's, that is now in college. Pete asked if they needed a new home for the basketball goal, and now Charlie is loving it. Watch out, Charlie!

Day 79 of 2009 - March 20

When the kids got home from school, I laid some warm clothes out for soccer practice tonight. Tiger Lilly decided to make a bed out of them and Caity really wanted me to take a picture for my blog.

Day 78 of 2009 - March 19

Today, Caity brought home a cabbage plant from school. She can grow the plant to compete for a $3000 scholarship. We are trying to keep Tiger Lilly from eating the plant until it warms up some more outside. We really need to repot it.

Day 77 of 2009 - March 18

This morning the drama continued. Charlie tried to convince us that he could not go to school because of his eye. His eye seemed fine, but since Mommy didn't know about it until he was in bed, he needed attention from Mommy. He went to school and I've already e-mailed his teacher just in case there is really something wrong with his eye. I know if he goes to school and complains about his eye that I need to take him immediately to the doctor. He's made it through most of the day and he hasn't mentioned it to his teacher.

Here's my precious pup:

Day 76 of 2009 - March 17

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

While I was at work tonight, Pete and the kids threw the frisbee. You probably know how this story goes. Charlie claims that he's never throwing the frisbee again. This time Caity hit him with the frisbee from about 3 feet away, in the eye. Oh, the drama!

Day 75 of 2009 - March 16

Again, this evening, the kids wanted to throw the frisbee with Daddy. Again, tonight, Charlie got hit in the face with the frisbee. This time by Daddy. Poor Charlie!

Day 74 of 2009 - March 15

We are not in shorts yet, but it has warmed up a little. This evening the kids wanted to go outside and throw the frisbee. Here's Charlie before Caity threw the frisbee and it hit him in the face.

Day 73 of 2009 - March 14

Today we went to see the movie, Bolt. It was a good movie and the kids really enjoyed it. Prior to the movie we went to the dollar store near the theater to pass time. Caity decided to purchase a pink hat. Maybe it's becuase we live in Kentucky, but when we got home she put the hat on and made a horse tail to attach to her shirt.

Day 72 of 2009 - March 13

Happy Birthday Allen!

Today we woke up to snow. Caity and Charlie were hoping for a snow day, but with the temps being high two days ago, the roads are clear.

Day 71 of 2009 - March 12

It's snowing this evening here. Just days ago it was 70 degrees. I think it's b/c Pete put down grass seed and fertilizer! (Just Kidding!)

The kids and I actually have an afternoon and evening with no plans...no where to go...no where to be. It has been nice. We loved it if Daddy could be here too. He should be home from Louisville in time to kiss the kids good night.

Here's a picture of Charlie not wanting to listen to Mommy...the hearing protection might go out in the trash tonight.

Day 70 of 2009 - March 11

Well, I made it through my back-to-back classes on Tuesday. It wasn't too bad. Tonight I work again, but then I have a four day weekend. Today it turned cold in KY. We dropped nearly 40 degrees in 24 hours. I'm ready for spring back...wait...I guess this is spring?!

Today we had to go from short sleeves back to sweaters. Here is Caity in a pink sweater before changing to go to ballet. I see this picture and realize that's she's growing up. She is also wearing her pink scarf. Since Christmas, Caity hasn't gone to school without one of her two scarfs.

Day 69 of 2009 - March 10

Here are Caity and Charlie working on homework. They have busy evenings planned. Since I work tonight, Caity is going roller skating with the Girl Scouts and Charlie's going to his cub scout meeting.

Day 68 of 2009 - March 9

This week started off extremely busy, but at least it feels like spring. I began a new semester where I am teaching 4 classes with ITT Tech. I teach on Monday morning, Tuesday morning and night, and Wednesday night. Along with my new schedule, Pete is working in Louisville, KY, all week. I am really thankful and appreciative to all of those friends that helped take care of Charlie and Caity until Pete made it home. I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful friends!

After the kids got off the bus, I took them to get their hair cut. Here's Charlie's new cut(he didn't want his picture taken):

Day 67 of 2009 - March 8

This weekend we attended Charlie's Baskball Awards Event. The organization, Upward, that Charlie played with, really held a nice event for the kids. They brought in a stage, lights, music, and a magician. They played a video recapping the season. Each player received an Upward backpack. Charlie just loves his backpack. He immediately switched it to the one he carries to school.

We had a great season. Charlie learned so much and we were blessed to have the coaches that we had. They were so patient with Charlie and gave him a good foundation.

Day 66 of 2009 - March 7

On Saturday, Charlie competed in the last academic challenge - One Community, One Voice. Charlie really seems to enjoy these competitions. His team did not make it pass the 1st round, but I feel that it's good experince.

Day 65 of 2009 - March 6

It's Friday and I get to observe Caity's ballet class again! Her ballet instructor says that she's doing very well. She also said at this age, the girls need to work on perfecting their form, and along with better form they will have better balance. Caity received her part for "Cinderella". She will be a birdie. She will also be working on the End of the Year performance. This particular performance is held so that the kids get a chance to push the envelope and perform some more difficult pieces than they may be able to in company shows.

Day 64 of 2009 - March 5

On March 5, Charlie went to the police station with his cub scout den. He came home and told Caity and I how cool it was.

Day 63 of 2009 - March 4

Today was ballet observation day. I love getting the opportunity to observe Caity dance. Typically, ballet classes are closed and parents cannot watch.

Day 62 of 2009 - March 3

Here are some more ballet photos:

Day 61 of 2009 - March 2

March arrived and life here in Kentucky as gotten busier. Or, at least it seems as if it has. For some reason I have a hard time remembering to take a picture on Mondays. Then, i put off my blog because I don't have a photo. After hearing from both grandmothers today, I realized that I need to update anyway. For March 2nd and March 3rd, I'm going to use some of the 100+ pictures I took of Caity's ballet observation. Here are two pictures that display Caity's balance and flexibility.

Day 60 of 2009 - March 1

Today was a definite sign that "March comes in like a lion." It has been so cold and windy here. We are ready for the warm temps to stay for a while.

This picture respresents what the floor in the family room looks like most of the time...
I have decided that Kuma needs to learn to pick up his toys!!!

Day 59 of 2009 - February 28

Today was very cold. In Lexington, KY, we are down in the 30's again.

This morning Caity and I sold Girl Scout cookies at Kroger. We were inside the doors, but it was freezing. Here's a picture of Caity standing in front of the cookie table. I didn't want to include the picture with her friends that she was selling with, without their parents' permission, so I cropped the photo.

Day 58 of 2009 - February 27

Today was another busy day in the Frederick house. The kids had school. I spent time at the school helping with math tiles. Pete worked. And, Caity had ballet class. After we got the kids in bed, Pete and I were working at our laptops in the kitchen. It was about 10:00pm and Pete walked into the living room. He walked back into the kitchen and made the comment that he knew for sure now that Caity was growing up. I asked why...and for those that know Caity, this picture was taking at 10:00pm.

Caity was in bed, asleep, without her bear.

Day 57 of 2009 - February 26

Charlie was so proud of his Lego creation. He built a plane that could hold all of his Rock Monsters.

Day 56 of 2009 - February 25

Wednesday was a work day for me and a ballet day for Caity. At ballet tonight, one of the older girls gave Caity some leotards and an American Ballet Theater shirt. Caity was excited. She really looks up to the older girls. Caity and I decided that I would make her a thank you card and Caity could write her a note inside. Here's the card:
